Eco-friendly materials

Organic cotton derives from organic farming soiles, without genetically modified seeds or synthetic chemical pesticides, fertilizers, defoliants that are copiously used in conventional farming, with devastating consequences for the environment and the human beings. Organic farming thus ensures long-term fertility of the soil, by protecting the water resources. During all the processing phases, we comply with the strict parameters of the Global Organic Textile Standard (Gots), concerning the various substances used during the processing (finishing additives, colorants, dyeing auxiliary products), the air and water emissions (biodegradable waste waters, thus non toxic for the water organisms) and the working conditions (safe workplace, respect of the workers’ rights, total absence of any kind of discrimination and minor workers).

Hemp was the first fiber ever used by men, already 8ooo years ago.  The organic and natural hemp fiber is light, extra-resistant and entirely biodegradable. Thanks to an accurate craftsmanship, the hemp thread preserves its natural characteristics: in fact, thanks to its particular molecular structure, hemp maintains the ideal temperature for those wearing it; it is then warm in winter and cool in summer.

Furthermore it protects from electromagnetic pollution, from infrared and UVA rays by creating a shield absorbing till 95% of the dangerous radiations for the skin, without letting them penetrate. Hemp does not need pesticides to grow, thus it is not only a very eco-friendly product, rather it is good for our health and that of our planet.

Wool is the most hygroscopic fiber ever, it can thus absorb steam up to one third of its own weight, without giving the feeling of being wet. Therefore in case of humid climate or intense perspiration, wool activates a perspiration process able to absorb humidity and return it to the environment.

But the main characteristic of wool is that of being warm, that is, it has a high insulating power. But the outstanding attribute of wool is such that it insulates against both coldness and heat. Desert bedouins stand the hottest temperatures during the day and the desert coldness during the night, by protecting themselves with a wool kaftan.

Besides normal wool, there is also organic wool, which, aside from having the same natural characteristics of wool, is also certified: the pastures, the breeding techniques, the collection methods assure the conservation and the protection of sole, waters and air, in order to preserve the alternation and the natural qualities of the biological cycles and assure the correct amount of nutritional substances for the vegetable and animal life. Moreover using pesticides, chemical additives and dangerous substances for animals and people is forbidden as well as using invasive techniques for the animal care. Therefore organic wool comes from farms situated in unpolluted areas, where ethical breeding, respecting animal and environment is carried out.

Bamboo fiber is natural, ecological (does not need pesticides to grow and is completely biodegradable), highly breathable but maintains the body temperature, thus conveying a relaxed feeling of freshness.

Thanks to pectin content of honey, bamboo is also healthy for the skin; besides it is also UV resistant and, thanks to a bio-agent in bamboo cellulose, it is even antibacterial and a natural deodorizer.
